Puritan Candle produces candles made from high-quality wax. There are a variety of waxes used through-out the industry, and the quality of the wax is the key to producing a quality candle. High-quality waxes hold the colors and scents better, and the end result is a candle that has a scent that lingers and does not fade. It burns cleaner, for longer periods of time.
Many candle manufacturers - especially those that mass-produce their candles, are seeking one thing only: profit. They skimp and cut-back in order to produce more candles for less money, and then sell you low-quality products at a very high price. They are about maximizing their profit at all cost. Puritan Candle recognizes this, and this was what motivated us to get into the business in the first place!

Our jar candles are manufactured with a very high fragrance content - TRIPLE the amount of fragrance of other leading manufacturers! Our expert candle makers have devised a 'recipe' that allows the maximum amount of fragrance to be suspended in our special, one-of-a-kind wax mixture. By adding triple the amount of fragrance that other candle manufacturers usually add (while they still charge you more!), we can produce strong fragrant jar candles that will fill your home and office with long-lasting and delicious scents!
WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A QUALITY CANDLE:
- Scent: Face it - that's the reason you buy a candle. You want one that has a noticable sent that is consistant from the first burn to the last. Some manufacturers only put high fragrance in the top portion of their jars, leaving the rest to only have a slight scent, if any. Ours will provide a consistant amount of scent until it is gone.
- Wax: Not a tacky feeling wax. Softer waxes have less burn time. Some candle companies use waxes that are very blotchy and bubbly looking. Not ours. Ours are creamy in appearance.
- Color: A quality candle's color will not fade with time. The color will be vibrant no matter how long you own it. We add an ingredient to our wax that will prohibit fading, even though it makes our candles more expense to make, it is not acceptable to us to sell you something that will not look as good with time, as the day you purchased it.
- Jar: Not all jars are created equal. Especially around the mouth/opening of the jar. A thin glass jar becomes a hazard as it heats. We are selective in the jars that we pour our wax into, and you should be selective about the jars that you purchase.
- Burn time: You don't want to spend your money on a candle that burns away before you have a chance to enjoy it. Keep in mind that not all candles are manufactured with this in mind. Cheaper waxes and other factors will make your candles just melt away. Our wax 'recipe' ensures the maximum burn time.
- Soot: All candles will soot a small amount, especially if the flame is disturbed by factors in the environment (people, breezes, or objects moving close to it). A candle should NOT continually create soot, and this is a sign of a poorly manufactured candle.
- Waste: Some candles only burn straight down the middle. Another sign that the candle was not well made. It creates an unused portion that remains around the outside edge of the jar. Your money goes in the trash with the unusable remnant. This is especially true in larger jars. When we create larger jar candles, we add a second wick to help create a wax pool that better distributes the scent, while at the same time, allowing use of all the wax that you have paid for.
